Prof Petra Picò CAGNARDI

WG3 leader

Associate Professor, University of Milan, Italy

The integration of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data is crucial to define veterinary clinical breakpoints for optimization of antimicrobial treatment and limitation of antimicrobial resistance

Dr. Cagnardi is Associate Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology by the Dept. of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano) in Italy. She graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1998 and obtained her PhD in Veterinary Pathology, Pharmacokinetics and Clinical Therapy in 2002.

The research activity of Prof. Cagnardi on Antimicrobials is focused to:

•             Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling of antimicrobials to obtain the most specific breakpoints for the determination of the correct therapy and for the limitation of the widespread of antibiotic resistance, i.e. fluoroquinolones use in turkeys, cefazolin in dogs,.

•             The impact of antimicrobials use in farm animals both on public health and the environment, defining the spread of resistance and toxicity on non-target organisms

Prof. Cagnardi is Author or co-Author of 47 full papers in international journals (h-index 11). Orcid iD: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6232-4850.
