Dr. Carmo was a Doctoral student / Resident of the European College of Veterinary Public Health Veterinary Public Health Institute, University of Bern, Switzerland. Among other relevant professional experiences, he is an Advisor for the start-up DatAnimalia on data management, analysis, and Big Data approaches, and Consultant for the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health on the COVID-19 pandemic response, performing the tasks of data management, analysis, and creation of reports – using sentinel, cantonal and national-level data. Also, he is currently representing Europe in the Early Career Representative (ECR) Group for Ecohealth International.
In addition, he is a member of the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Veterinary Sciences (Review Editor for Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics), Editor of the Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine conference proceedings and Guest editor and reviewer for the Preventive Veterinary Medicine journal.
