ENOVAT just organizes a training school on the basis of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics for the antibiotics treatment

Training School is taking place in Place in Padova on the 24 and 25 of August 2021

This training school is organized and hosted by the University of Padova in a hybrid format (physical and online). The aim is to acquire the general principles of pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) for clinicians and microbiologists. 46 students were participating, 22 in the physical event and 24 online, to understand the basis of pharmacokinetics concerning dosage regimens, with the final aim of supporting better therapeutic clinical decisions.

Different mentors guided the participants in the basis of PK and PK for antibiotic use, including Alain Bousquet-Mélou (DVM, PhD, Dipl. ECVPT, Prof. at the Veterinary School of Toulouse), Ronette Gehring (DVM, MmedVet (Pharm), PhD, Dipl. ECVPT and ACVCP), Petra Cagnardi (DVM, PhD, Associate-Prof. at the University of Milan, Dept. of Veterinary Medicine) and Aude Ferran (DVM, PhD, Dipl. ECVPT, Associate-Prof. at the Veterinary School of Toulouse).

Participants attended from 21 different countries, including Belgium, Cameroon, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey. Apart from lectures, that consist of an overview of PK and PD with a special focus on drug elimination, bioavailability, distribution, binding to plasma proteins, and the basis of antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance, the training school included a series of exercises using Microsoft Excel.

The agenda is available here. In addition, all the presentations and material used during the training school will be available ONLY for participants soon.
